On a weekend in March, few of our friends decided to explore some nearby islands of Sai Kung city of Hong Kong. Many of these places are accessible by passenger boats, but we decided to do it differently. We went exploring on a sit-on-top kayak.
Once we got the kayaks out, all of us jumped in and went further out from the shore. We proceed to cross one of the busy shipping channels in the area. During the weekends, many would come out on yachts, or charter a fishing boat to go somewhere else. Of course, one should always look out for the police boats as they go really fast and have powerful engines that would make lots of wakes.
After we crossed the shipping channel, we headed up to a nearby sandbank on the other side of the channel. We moored up at the beach to take a well-deserved break and took some time to admire the natural beauty of the Sharp Island on the other side.
Circumnavigate Sharp Island
After chilling out on the sandbank, we headed off to the Sharp Island and circumnavigate it. We had a lot of fun going under the pier, exploring the rocky coastline and swam at the Hap Mun Bay Beach.
What a fun day we had! Before we headed home, we also checked out a local fishing village!
